Documentary narration on CCTV
Watch the broadcast on CCTV ↗Documentary narration on CCTV
Watch the broadcast on CCTV ↗I’m Jiang Xiaobei, an independent Mandarin narrator based in China. Since 2014, my work has appeared across four CCTV channels, spanning history, nature and culture.
Documentary narration is at the heart of my work. I bring the same attention to pace and detail to brand films, training and audiobooks.
I work independently with CCTV production teams; I am not a CCTV employee. Scripts in Simplified or Traditional Chinese are welcome.

Every rate includes recording, editing out misreads, a full listen-through and corrections of recording errors. Delivery: clean mono WAV at 48 kHz, in 24-bit or 32-bit float.
E-learning: $150 minimum, then $0.15 per character beyond 1,000. Corporate: $200 minimum, then $0.20 per additional character. Final Chinese narration only; punctuation, spaces and stage directions excluded. English and numbers are agreed by spoken length. Time estimates use about 210 characters/minute and are not an extra charge.
Documentary film duration and character limits both apply; exceeding either needs a custom quote. PFH means delivered audio duration, not studio time. Series scope, review window and direction are agreed in advance.
Short scripts (about 5 minutes): 48h. Documentaries: 2–3 working days up to 20 minutes; 3–5 up to 40. Books and series: agreed schedule. Delivery timing starts once the advance has cleared and the final script is approved. Rush 24h: +50%, short scripts only.
My recording errors: corrected free. Small client script changes (up to one finished minute or a few lines): two rounds included. Further changes, rewrites or a new direction are quoted before recording.
Internal and owned-channel use is included for 12 months unless agreed otherwise. Paid advertising, broadcast, distribution and third-party platforms are quoted separately by media, territory, term, versions and exclusivity. Commercial recording and usage fees are separate.
Edited, checked dry voice. MP3 on request. Music, mixing, mastering, EQ, compression, noise reduction and loudness normalisation are not included. Translation, picture sync and split files are quoted separately. Each party handles its own taxes; any required withholding must be disclosed before payment and supported by documentation.

Yes. I read both scripts in Standard Mandarin as spoken in mainland China.
Adapting a Chinese script so it reads naturally aloud is included. Turning an English script into natural Mandarin is a separate writing service and is quoted before we start — it is not folded into the narration rate.
